March of the Penguins
***
Saw March of the Penguins yesterday. What an amazing film with amazing footage.
Heartbreaking at times. For example, when an egg goes astray, cracks, and freezes, claiming life within in front of the father penguin.
Made me think about how wonderous God's creation is. There is NO WAY that the mating and birth process of penguins could have happened by chance and through an "evolutionary process." The complexity, care, and love expressed by the penguins is truly astonishing, not to mention the intelligence.
There is one plot hole however. This film is said to be a "story of love," however, the parent penguins do nothing when their baby penguins are being hunted by an unknown bird that resembles a seagull.
This is a somewhat minor hole when compared to the sacrifice and care the mother and father go through for one egg. The father first marches 70 miles, finds a mate, mates, and then stays with the egg as the mother marches 70 miles back to the ocean to feed. The father goes through 3 months of harsh winter (-58C) without food, protecting the egg and keeping it warm against the arctic winds. The mother returns, and the father goes off to get his own food.
It would truly be an adventure to travel to an exotic environment and observe beauty. And while I'm at it, make a documentary! Before I do, I'd like to see the Northern Lights.
